The structure of the enterprise sector in voivodeships as a factor contributing to company creation and bankruptcy

Struktura sektora przedsiębiorstw w województwach jako czynnik wpływający na tworzenie i upadek firm
Celem artykułu jest określenie wpływu struktury sektora przedsiębiorstw w poszczególnych województwach na tworzenie nowych firm i upadek istniejących. Struktura ta decyduje o poziomie koncentracji lub rozproszenia przedsiębiorstw jako barierach wyjścia z rynku. W szczególności przedmiotem badań było oddziaływanie takich elementów struktury sektora przedsiębiorstw jak stopień nasycenia gospodarki regionu przedsiębiorstwami, udział mikroprzedsiębiorstw, małych, średnich i dużych firm w liczbie aktywnych przedsiębiorstw. Na podstawie estymacji panelowej dla województw Polski w latach 2003-2008 stwierdzono, że udziały dużych firm i mikroprzedsiębiorstw obniżają stopę tworzenia i upadku firm, natomiast udział małych firm w regionie sprzyja zarówno powstawaniu nowych, jak i zamykaniu istniejących.

The structure of the enterprise sector in voivodeships as a factor contributing to company creation and bankruptcy
The aim of the paper is to determine what influence the entrepreneurial structure of a voivodeship on the creation of new companies and the bankruptcy of existing firms, and to study the extent to which concentration or dispersal of companies constitute entry or exit barriers. In particular, the article describes the impact of such element as: the level of enterprise saturation in regional economy or the proportion of micro, small, medium and large companies among active firms. On the basis of panel estimation for Polish voivodeships in the years 2003-2008 it was established that the presence of large and micro companies reduces the rate of creation and bankruptcy of businesses, while small firms contribute to the emergence of new enterprises and closing of existing ones.
